Back in 2013 i had an Audi with adaptive cruise control.
Having owned several other marques since i quite fancy coming back to Audi but have noticed through my searches on Autotrader that it's a rarity that newer Audis have this functionality?
Anyone have any idea why it's dropped off so much?

It's usually available in some kind of pack I think. I would imagine that with the popularity of leasing, a lot of people don't bother adding any extras so as not to put the monthly cost up, and so you end up with lots of non-optioned cars on the second hand market.
Spot on. I think the pack is around £1,500 or so for most of the Audi range.I've done circa 100,000 miles using adaptive cruise and wouldn't consider a work car without it..
After having it on a Golf R I won’t buy another daily driver without it.
It seems to be standard on a lot more VW’s than it is on their Audi equivalents for some reason. Some manufactures ACC don't operate down to 0mph which is a deal-breaker for me as well.
I’ve just ordered a Tiguan R-Line 1.5 because it had ACC rather than an Audi Q5 that didn't.

Echo many of the above comments but i am shocked that i couldn't find more than one or two used Q3/Q5 with ACC on autotrader to the point that i thought that i was searching for the wrong phrase!FWIW said:

I specced it on my A3 in 2014.
It was a standalone option for £350. I think standard cruise was around £200. It may have been available as a larger package but I didn't want to pay extra for that.
I'm still amazed by how ACC works but I just haven't taken to it. I would prefer standard cruise.
As I recall ACC was standard fit on Golfs from SE spec and above.

As others have pointed out if you are one of the people that like ACC and have got used to having it (I have had it on the previous four cars) buying or leasing an Audi is a pain as the feature is embedded in an options 'pack' at around £1,500. I had it on an A4 leased until last year and paid the extra for it but wouldn't again and will be limiting my choice of vehicles to ones where ACC is standard.

Spot on. My A6 BiTdi has it and I wouldn’t buy another daily without it. If you look at the Vorsprung spec in Audi models they have it as standard.I've done circa 100,000 miles using adaptive cruise and wouldn't consider a work car without it..
I have it, but am not a massive fan as it just keeps applying the brakes when driving etc, as opposed to just frewheeling as you would if driving) and I think it annoys people driving behind.
Also bear in mind if it needs recalbirating, it'll cost you £300+ as part of a wheel alginment set up/check

Same complaints here.Also when it starts braking as I approach a slower car that I am planning to overtake. You can override the braking by indicating but I don't like doing that until any cars to my right have passed me first.
i am buying a new A3 and had to spec the Driver Convenience Pack - - about £1200.
You only get it with the automatics - if you spec manual you don't get it.
Now that's strange as I have a manual Golf - and it had it as standard.

I have had ACC on a couple of my cars and wouldn’t actively choose it again. Like others have said it often brakes when I would just be off the gas but more irritatingly is how much it turns out other drivers brake and how this translates into the car making you a nodding dog
I also don’t like the overreaction of both ACC and collision detections systems when, for example, you can see the car in front is indicating and, while it is braking, you can see it will move out of your way by the time you get to it. The systems just see a slowing object and brake when you don’t need to. Sure you can avoid this by changing lane or knocking the system off and then resuming but taking extra actions defeats the object in my eyes

I use it regularly on my ‘13 W221 S-Class (took me a while to find one with it) and wouldn’t be without it but wonder if later generations are more intelligent.
A pet hate is when someone overtakes you and pulls in ahead of you within the pre-set range as it invariably dabs the brakes to increase the gap whereas it should see that the car ahead is travelling faster and therefore the issue will (most likely!) resolve itself.
