VW Touareg 2.5 Tdi 2006 - strange stutter/misfire

I'm hoping there's a wise sage out there that can provide some advice. Very recently my Toe-rag has developed a strange trait. When not really under load she has started to stutter. Usually at gentle cruising speed. I've changed the fuel filter, put new matched rear tyres to go with the previous new fronts and had a full diagnosis....which revealed no codes. The propshafy UJs have also been given a clean bill of health. I'm not sure what to do next. I'm keen to avoid parts darts. Would an injector issue thrown a code? There's no engine management light showing. Grateful for any thoughts.

A proper injector test/recon might be helpful. You'll want a decent specialist or dedicated diesel outfit. I see an alarming number of garages simply throw full sets of expensive injectors in without proper diagnosis.

Injection pumps on these weren't the best either (can also be rebuilt).

Well, a breakdown just outside Carmarthen has forced the issue. AA attended and diagnosed fault in injector #3. Maybe when I had a diagnostic earlier last week the fault wasn't sufficiently recognisable.
