Hi All,

I have seen these are quite well priced for the amount of car you get compared to similar cars (Golf GTi, BMW 128ti, etc), I was wondering if the 300 was the one to go for given it has more "go" or is it too much for a FWD drive?

I don't have a heavy right foot I just like to have a car that get out of it's own way when required (I have a 330D at the moment).

I have a 280 estate chipped to 360hp and obviously the front wheels struggle in the lower gears if you have a lead foot.

The selling point of these cars is the VAQ differential from the Golf GTI performance pack. It is absolutely brilliant and pulls you round in corners. On very tight corner it almost feels like RWD (but you get pulled not pushed).

The 4WD models obviously don’t have the diff (the VAQ is basically a Haldex system on the front axle, the 4WD models put it in the usual place) so while you can launch off the line easier it’s not quite the same in the corners.

Unless you are doing the traffic light GP traction isn’t really a problem in the real world.

I’ve had an RS3 in the past and I would take the extra cornering ability over traction off the line any day.
