Well that’s annoying. One of my Milltek exhaust tips has disappeared.

What do I need to know before trying to order a replacement? It’s going to be awkward getting the car in the air to check any model info on the exhaust itself. I assume there are some key measurements I could take. Of course, I can visually match what I have with what I order but so far I haven’t found an exact match (combination of material, brushed or not, size of logo, etc).

On a Mk5 golf gti and exhaust is at least 7 years old, if that helps.
TIA!

I'm sure someone will come along to make a joke involving the situation and your name.

Could you contact Milltek? They're based in Derby.

I perhaps should’ve been clearer, my fault. I have spoken to them but without a model number they say their hands are tied. The id plate I can see on the main exhaust is essentially unreadable and there are no marks on the (welded) exhaust tips. So without getting it up on a ramp it’s difficult to identify. A 6 hour round trip to them doesn’t particularly appeal either.

What’s also annoying is the opposite side outer tip has got a bloody great crack through it at the weld. The inner two appear fine. Don’t really want to spend however many hundred pounds on replacing it all, but if I have to …

I'd probably just see what exhaust tips Halfords have and replace the current two with that.

Would Miltek be able to identify it from a picture?

Possibly, if I can get it up in a ramp and take a decent one. I’ve sent them what I have anyway, from scrabbling about on the floor, will see what transpires.

ETA this is what the near side looks like today .. I assume something similar happened to the driver side and it let go.
