Hi,

So my car was due this week, it was a build week 26 and due to be delivered to the dealership week commencing 26-07-21 which is this week, however after some back and forth with Audi it seems that there has been some sort of issue in the Germany port causing a major backlog.

I've been told there are 15 cars that were due by the end of July to my specific dealership (and 15 customers who were expecting that) but none of those cars (mine included) have even been put on the ship, something to do with manufacturing delays. The manager of the branch is apparently having a meeting with Audi this afternoon to express their frustration on the behalf of their customers,

Has anyone else had this issue in recent weeks with the shipment/delivery? At the moment it's looking as if delivery to me won't be until week commencing 9-08-21 at the earliest which is 2 weeks over the estimated date (meaning a further 2 weeks without transport) i'm wondering if this is something to do with the particular ship/branch that is being delivered or if it's something of an issue as a whole in Germany port's.

The brutal answer i think is that you're fortunate the car's been built.

Delays and vagueries on new cars are the norm at the moment. Yes, some people get lucky but when it comes to how long a new car will take all bets are off.

Unless you've a rock solid guarantee of a particular delivery date or the delay is causing you some sort of hardship it's just a waiting game. Trust me when I say that every new car dealer is annoyed about this.

Lack of semi conductors will be the primary reason. Any parts on the shortage list, will almost certainly get diverted towards the more profitable top of the range models.

Covid absentees won’t be helping.

I gather all manufacturers are facing the same woes.

Even before the recent 'issues' it was always a bit of a lottery as to when a particular car would be put on a ship having arrived at the port from the factory.

Some would hardly spend any time at Emden while others would spend weeks there, bring the concern that it had somehow been damaged in transit and was being repaired.

Completely - some stuff we see on back end with build and registration dates barely a few weeks apart.

See the very odd one where there's a year between the dates!
