Been a long time lurker here so first post and looking for some help.

In the market for a MK7 Golf R DSG and have narrowed my search down to a few options.

1. 14 Plate with a full service history and only 28K on the clock. Owned from new in the Isle of Man
2. 14 Plate with a full service history with 48K on the clock
3. 15 Plate with full service history with 50K on the clock. Ex demonstrator with a big spec

All three are priced similarly

I’m leaning towards option 1 however I’m not sure about buying a car that’s spent 30 thousand miles on the Isle of Man….? Option 3 is also very nice however it’s an ex demo car so not sure if it will have been ragged within an inch of its life.

Give me your thoughts please

2 is pointless, the spec is more important than the 2k miles and psychological barrier of the 50k no.3

1 is obviously potential, but will you be driving above or below average miles and how far different is the spec?

I've got a Mk7 and was looking for ages for my ideal spec

DCC
DSG (i'm getting old)
Dynaudio
Prets
Leather
Carplay
Winter pack

I had to settle for not getting leather though lol!

out of those 3, IMO, spec is the most important aspect unless you'll be doing above average miles.

PS I absolutely love mine, it drives so nicely day to day around town, on a run etc, but when you want it to be, it's a complete animal.

Sound advice thank you.

Option 3 is slightly more expensive but think it has all the options so hopefully go and have a look at it

With regards to Option 1, has the car been serviced annually with the correct minor and major services not forgetting Haldex Oil/Filter Change plus DSG Service?

When I was looking for one, the correct servicing sequence was lacking in loads of cars even from Main dealers.

Has the car previously or is the currently remapped?

Are the tyres all of the same manufacture and of a good brand?

Not a Vag product but one of the best cars we owned was an ex demo.
Was well cared for, forget the ragging comment as you don’t know the history of any of them with regards to that.

I had a 2014 R, fully loaded with the sunroof, pretorias, leather, DSG, DCC, winter pack.

I have to say it's the best car I ever owned - I'd go for Option 3 but it depends on how many miles you are going to put on.

I have had two poverty spec standard dsg Rs. A 7 and a 7.5.
I’ve never missed a sunroof, DCC or leather. Both came with lots of standard kit.
