Getting the brake pad warning light coming on and I don't trust Audi Leeds to give me an honest appraisal. Fully expect them to shaft me and upsell new Discs and Pads all round at exorbitant main dealer prices.

It's a 2017 RS6 with 23000miles.

So can anyone recommend a good local independent to give me an honest opinion? i.e. Leeds (preferably North Leeds)

The discs are easy to appraise yourself.

The red circles show dimples, these are wear marks.

The blue circles show holes, these are holes.

The dimples are drilled to the same depth as the minimum safe disc thickness. When these wear marks are worn flush (or nearly flush) then it's time to replace the discs. Hold in mind these are only about a mm deep when new so the line "discs slightly lipped" is useless. If you want to go belt and braces the new and minimum disc thicknesses are stamped into the metal of the bell. Give them a clean and you'll see it.

C7 front discs last +/- 30k miles so you are in the replacement window. The rears tend to last a bit longer.

The pad warning light comes on at 80-90% worn.

The margin on RS specific parts is only 10%; you can make a labour saving but the discs cost what they cost.

I had a quote from a local Audi specialist to replace the discs & pads on my B8 RS4 (the wavy discs).

They were marginally more expensive than the local Audi dealer.....

I've also found that phoning round Audi dealers for quotes can liberate savings to the point where they're not actually that bad.

My local main dealer refused to quote for pads only on out S5, saying they would only supply and fit discs and pads.

Hung up on them as they blustered over the fact that i had seen the Audi fixed price book and it had a price for just pads.

ETA just checked and RS6 pads are quoted at £215 rear, £425 front.

I got a quote for front pads for my 2017 rs6 performance at Leeds Audi today . Quoted me £795.

Has any one fitted aftermarket pads ? If so what do people recommend?

On the RS3, people tend to go for the Reyland discs and ferrodo ds2500 pads. No cheaper than Audi but better and don’t squeak
