I jumped into my A4 this morning and connected my Android phone to the USB, as usual, in order to activate the Android Auto.

However, it wouldn't open for some reason.

Likewise, none of the volume controls would appear to have any effect on the car radio which was, to all intents and purposes, frozen!

I had a very quiet drive into town.

I have tried turning everything off and restarting; unplugging and reconnecting, etc., but all to no avail.

Then this afternoon, when I returned to the car and went through the same connection process after a few hours, everything is back to normal.

Problem solved for now but if this is likely to occur again, is there a quick fix that I can do?

Any ideas welcome?

Maybe MMI Froze? They are computers after all

Take it to Audi, I guess it's under warranty? Maybe needs a software update.

Had it happen a couple of times on my SEAT. I tend to get out, lock the car, leave it for 10 mins and get back in and everything is back to normal.

This used to happen all the time in my 2019 A4 Avant. Used to drive me crazy.

Its likely had a moment, and it needed a full power down to reset. You turning the car on and off does not actually turn off the systems in the car. They normally power down if the car has been parked for a certain period of time.

I've had similar in a few cars; whilst both Android Auto and Carplay can flake out it's the former I see misbehave more often. Assumed it was because my work phone's a crap one (Galaxy S9 vs iPhone 13).

Thanks, guys.
I'll try a visit to Audi to see if there is an update.
Otherwise, I'll learn to live with this foible!
Worse things in the world right now....
