DSG DQ381 software update problems

I've read that there's a software update being rolled out by VW for the 7 speed DQ381 DSG box that may be causing more harm than good.

I pity that guy who paid out £450 to have various bits replaced to no avail.
VW, from my past dealings with them, I reckon are going to be difficult about admitting anything or digging into their pockets.
These DSG gearboxes are seriously complex bits of kit, "backed" by a company that is proven to be dishonest in its dealings.
Not a great combo.
