My battery appears to be on the way out. It's an EFB type.

Am I right in thinking it should be replaced like for like and not with an AGM type?

Background being that for the slightly less than the price of collecting an EFB Exide from Eurocarparts, Farmers would fit an AGM Yuasa - Dunno yet why they don't list EFB for my reg.

Have you tried Tayna? I've found them very good for batteries: https://www.tayna.co.uk

Interesting find.

Would be good to know if EFB and AGM are interchangeable though.

Batteries of that era are a bit crap. As said. You can fit an AGM battery but it needs to be coded up so that the correct charging profile and capacity is set. Had mine done at Halfords.

Just fit a Bosch S5 from Tayna and the job's a good 'un.

In my experience the OEM Exide battery is cr@p.

Yeah, it'll be an AGM.

Wouldn't expect Halfords to code one that isn't their own?
