VAG engines - years 2008 to 2014 which to avoid?

Which (petrol) engines should be avoided in 2008 to 2014 models?

I'm looking at cars (Audi / Skoda / VW) with 1.8 to 2.0 engines - I seem to recall reading somewhere about oil pump failure in the TSI / TFSI engines?

Which ones are to be avoided?

EDIT: Sorry - I should have said; Petrol engines only, I'm not interested in diesel.

EA888 engines - 1.8 TSI can be generally problematic, oil usage. 2.0 is generally ok, aside from the cam chain tensioner. There's a problem where they can fail. This was resolved in 2011, so late 2011 engines on-wards should have the latest tensioner. It can be easily checked in 10 minutes if there's no history of it being replaced.
