Audi A1 2.0…deleted?
Discussion
I’ve been using a 2014 A1 as a daily for over a year. I’ve grown to quite like it. Only a 1.4 turbo, but it’s excellent on fuel and been totally reliable.
Quite fancy a new daily and I’ve been looking at the facelift A1. Its seems there was a 2.0 in production 2020/21 which had a smidge over 200bhp, auto, 5 door, which I’d fancy. Curiously they seem to have dropped that model leaving the ‘range topper’ as a 1.5. Anyone had experience of what looks to have been a short lived car?

Yes, my daughter has one from new - she loves it. A real Q car. A1 40 TFSi - IIRCQuite fancy a new daily and I’ve been looking at the facelift A1. I think Audi are phasing out the A1 and Q2, maybe some other models? AIUI, axing the smaller, least profitable models to concentrate on more upmarket stuff?
A shame if so, my Wife has a Q2 (her second actually) and she really likes it, though I always wondered why they made both the Q2 and Q3, there not being much difference between them size-wise.
Engine wise, our Q2 is the 1.5tfsi and it goes very well, certainly a different league to the 1.6tdi we had before so, I wouldn't discount the 1.5 in an A1.

The 40 TFSI has more power than a comparable Cooper S 5 door But less than the old S1 or JCW. The S1 is an old car now and I don’t want another 3 door. Had a 7.5 GTi which I found disappointing. People say they are super versatile. I thought it bland, not quick, not great handling and not good on fuel. I liked the dash, the art velour trim and the Dynaudio.
I had the 227 version rather than the subsequent performance. Anyway, the 40 seems a totally under the radar car. No one really says anything about them, perhaps because they weren’t in production long. None of the cars for sale have much in the way of spec, which is a shame. I’d want the Bang audio and heated seats. Not bothered about colour but low miles appeals as well.

I suppose that’s the obvious alternative. I’d prefer the Audi but doubtless finding one where mileage/spec and price converge, will be tough.
Curious how all these small VW group cars have different upgraded audio options. The A1 is B & O. Polo is Beats. Other VW’s feature Dynaudio and HK. Very odd.
