Interested in Audi A4 (B9) Allroad - knowledge/advice needed
Discussion
Hi All,
I'm considering the A4 (B9) Allroad. I do 20,000 miles a year, I live in a rural location, and also drive in to London regularly.
I've got a budget of approx. £14k and want to the know which model others recommend. The only certainty is I want diesel over petrol.
Which engines do others recommend? What specification/extras should I be looking out for or avoid?
Any common issues I need to be aware of etc.

The B9 allroad is a pretty rare beast - theres only about 40 on autotrader.
i wouldn't ask what kit you should have, look for the spec YOU want (or the options packs important to you). Find an old brochure and familiarise yourself with the options, trim levels and decide.
However I suspect finding a spec you like will be difficult with so few available.
I would personally want the 3.0 diesel with leather and the tech pack for the bigger nav and nicer dash clocks (some Tech pack cars got virtual cockpit, some just got a full colour screen depending on MY).
However you may have difference priorities.

Thanks - I think I favour the V6 I’m also not bothered by higher miles. The last 3 cars I’ve bought had clicked 100k and I’ve always had a good experience with high milers.
I’ve read the virtual cockpit is very good once’s you’ve got used to it.
The practicality is appealing especially on the lanes I have to use daily and yes - the rarity is very appealing.

I've got a B9 V6 Tdi quattro estate, with the virtual cockpit etc, but not AllRoad and I'm not really sure what benefit AllRoad brings to this car. I love it. Apart from a few ergonomic niggles (to do with positions of switches etc) it is brilliant and I can't really imagine replacing it.
We have a 2017 matador red B9 A4 Allroad which we have had for 3 years now (currently on 70k). Its the 2.0 diesel with I believe 190bhp, which is plenty for the type of driving we do. It has a set of Michelin Cross Climates and it will literally go anywhere - snow, mud, wet grass etc. It can slo do 55mpg on my commute which is good for such a heavy car!
Only issues I have had - needed a new Adblue tank (£2k from Audi), a water pump and a dpf clean out. Ive got some knocking noise coming from the front suspension which i intend to have looked at but think it will be bushings.
We shove bikes on the roof, dogs in the back and its just really practical. I am biased, but I also think its a really good looking car (and still looking modern for nearly 10 years old).
