Audi S3 8p Strange noise from rear

Hi all,



I have researched this but found nothing so far. I've had my 2008 S3 nearly a year now. Just noticed today a strange noise which sounds like it's coming from the rear nearside, only under acceleration over about 4k revs. It's hard to describe but it's almost a raspy kind of noise or a rough whooshing sound, quite obvious in the cabin, and it disappears as soon as you let off the accelerator. I've tried to replicate it whilst stationary and listening for anything around the exhaust but it doesn't do it. It only seems to happen when under load.



My first thought was maybe a hole in the exhaust somewhere and I will get this checked out but wanted to ask in case it's not that and anybody else has experienced similar.

Little update on this. I appreciate it's a bit of a niche thing and will be hard for anyone to say without hearing it. However when driving it this morning it wasn't doing it. Also felt like it was pulling a bit better, although I'm not sure if that's just in my head. Drove it again this afternoon and it's making the noise again. So it's an intermittent issue which I guess will make it harder to diagnose. Only happens on full throttle. If I accelerate through the rev range on partial throttle it doesn't do it.
