Thoughts on whether a stage 1 remap on a C8 RS6 is likely reliable? There’s one for sale that I’ve test drove and really like, but haven’t ever remapped a car before. You always hear of reliability issues but what’s the consensus? Stock is 600bhp I think. This one is around 700bhp.

Will an aftermarket warranty cover it with a remap?

Who did the tuning? Was it a tracksuited matey boy in a back-alley garage with a 10-a-penny flash map or somewhere with pedigree, knowledge and a tailored offering?

These types of vehicle are often bought down the line by people who want the big numbers, for the smallest outlay, with little to no supporting mods. I'd be looking for a papertrail / documentation at minimum, and conduction additional research from there. Many reputable tuning houses will be familiar with cars that pass their double doors, at least on file.

Thanks for the reply. QS Tuning did it. I’d never heard of them before but they are big in Audi circles from what I’ve read.

That bodes well, they're up there with the best VAG tuners in the UK. Be surprised if they don't have info on this specific car, as places like this tend to keep work / data on the system.

As with any performance vehicle, due diligence and peace of mind will be essential to ownership longevity / enjoyment. I'd ask if the seller has details, invoices.. hopefully a stack of paperwork (or otherwise, such is the new age!) to help you understand the work done, when it was done, and what it's been like since.

This buyers guide and the comment section might be worth an afternoon, if not scanned already.

Hope it works out - dream machine for me, these!

I would just buy one that hasn't had a remap. Based on my 45,000 miles in RS6s, one thing the C8 doesn't need is more power.

Thanks both. Got a test drive of a non-modified car coming up on Thursday.
