Ive recently acquired a 2015 Mk7 Golf with keyless entry/exit/starting. It all works fine except for the when I try to lock it by touching the sensor on the door handle. It seems to be completely random whether it works or not. Same issue with either door handle.

Unlocking by the same method always works every time, so I dont think it's a problem with the handle sensor. Keyless engine start also works. Im wondering if there is something I dont understand about the locking works.

Fob buttons work fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You touch the inside of the handle to unlock (ie grab the handle), you touch the little indent on the outside of the handle to lock it.

I had the same head scratch for the first few days when I had my old GTD.

Its often on other cars but FYI if you didn't know, pressing the unlock button and keeping it held down opens all the windows. Handy on a hot day.

They're quite sensitive to key batteries too - CR2025 doesn't last long.

This 100% and buy legitimate Duracell. Don't buy cheap ones in packs of 10.

I’ve got a 2016 mk7 estate and it doesn’t do this. Mind you it’s a U.S. market model so it may not be an activated feature.

Try one of the rear doors. We rarely need the mirrors to be folded so I disable them on our older cars - had trouble with a Merc where the wires snapped.

I spec'd keyless on my Golf R back in 2016 as it was a cheap option, but quickly wished I hadn't after owning the car just a few days, so annoying, especially when you're washing it and go anywhere near the door handles with a mitt....plus of course the increased theft risk. I made sure my next car (Clubsport) didn't have it.

It also opens/closes the pan roof too if you have that option.
