Yellow warning light suggesting issue with Emissions Control
Discussion
I have a 66 plate Audi A4 (B9) 2.0 TFSI S-Tronic.
I noticed that my oil level was getting low, so I added some motor oil and was the right grade in question.
I added about half a litre, or slightly less than that.
Then I waited a few minutes for the oil to go down.
However, when I started up the engine felt it was knocking so took it for a short drive and felt fine whilst on the move.
When I came back and parted on my drive, a yellow light indicating a problem with the emission control system came on.
Can this problem be rectified and just hope I've not do some serious damage?

It's possible to get EML illuminated if the oil filler cap isn't on tight.
Oil level indicated - was that on a dipstick or on the dash? Half a litre shouldn't do any harm to anything unless the system was already full and the indicator was faulty. With a serious overfill the crank can whip the oil into foam which is a bad thing.

It was on the dash as this car does not have a dipstick and it was showing the level as getting close to the minimum. The oil capacity for this car apparently is 5.2 litres. I used 0W-20 grade which according to Halfords was the recommended grade for this car. I certainly didn't have this issue before I added the oil so something is amiss here because of this.Oil level indicated - was that on a dipstick or on the dash?
