Anyone know what might have caused this damage to this pipe on VW Polo engine. 73 plate car with <20k miles. Bought as approved used

Also some damage to the pipe shroud above it

Recently?

If so, get it back to them, and tell them they didn't check it over very well.

The large rubber hose looks like it's got a hole in it. (breather pipe?)

Early Feb, since when it’s done about 150 miles. Think they’d claim it was done since now.

Yup, rodents nibbling insulation. Check it over but probably cosmetic.

This. Feb/March seems to be peak time for this. If the car's been kept garaged that's likely to be even more enticing to them.

A couple of mousetraps in your garage will help!
