It’s 18 plate car and I suspect battery dead. Car unused for two weeks during holidays and battery flat. Tried my trusty c-etc but it keeps bring up red light indicating battery not taking a charge and needs replacing. Does anyone know if this car needs battery coding on replacement or is it a simple case of old battery out and new one in.?

Thanks for quick reply…car stuck on drive Is it ok to fit new battery (to get it driving)and have coding done later when able to drive to garage? Tested battery this morning and is dead and will not take any charge , can jump start but concerned if battery not charging it could damage charging circuit. Cheers

A bit of feedback on above…The Audi was my neighbours car , on my drive whilst she was on holiday for a couple of weeks. Turns out she had RAC breakdown cover. She called them at 12 noon on Saturday and van/tech turned up with new battery , fitted and coded it by 15.00 and disposing of old battery for £235. 5 year warranty included. Not cheap but certainly a good service and as she is a GP car back in daily use.

Why does a car need recoding after a new battery?

The car adjusts the charging as the battery ages so it needs to be told there's a new battery. Supposedly if it's not done it shortens the life of the new battery.
