S3 ESP ECU

Hi Guys / Gals,

I've had my (2000 / W) S3 for a year now and I'm getting seriously hacked off with it. It's costing way more than the Chimaera ever did to run!

Last week the ESP warning light came on, my local dealership is saying it's the ECU and want £900 to replace it. Does anybody have experience of this? Is it possible to source one from elsewhere?

Does anyone else suffer like this or have I got a friday afternoon oktoberfest car?

ummm... again maybe I shouldn't comment but I've had a pretty tough time of S3 ownership, however after a LOT of money mines now pretty good. I've heard of ECUs going but normally on cars that have been remapped (ecu open jobbie and not S3s) I'm not sure if you can source one elseware but it might be worth a chat with some of the respected tuning places to see if they have any ideas about fixing it etc.
