mk5 golf servicing costs

My mk5 Golf 1.9 tdi is due for its first service @ 13k miles. The local dealer quoted me circa £170 + vat for the service plus circa £70 + vat for a brake fluid change which is recommended as the car is 2 years old now.

Sounds to me like quite a high price (my old Lexus was a bit cheaper) or is this reasonable? I guess there shouldnt be any worry going to an independent garage for its service?

sounds right,my local essex one was £313 inc vat with brake fluid change.
