Crikey, I hope I'm not going to get binned ...

I am considering and RS4 saloon and have read the various articles.

Are there any comments from the PH fraternity ?

How might the new M3 compare ?

I have not driven an M3 but I picked my RS4 Avant up in November and I am loving it. So far I dont have any negative points on it.

What colour and spec are you looking at? I tried the bucket seats out but didnt like them and had concerns about the wear and tear of them long term so I opted for the Recaros. The buckets do look better but the Recaros come with nappa leather and electric adjustment although not memory. There are not many other options to choose really as it is well specced. I have technology pack and a couple of other smaller options on mine.

If you do order I dont think you will be disappointed, it is an excellent all round car. beer

Technology pack with iPod, lowered suspension, buckets, arm rest, auto rear mirror, adaptive lighting and autoboot open.

As an aside, is the metallic black a good colour ?

Some dark colours can be very soft and scratch easily ...

Thanks.

Nice spec, ass warmers are a nice addition in the winter clap

I don't have the sports suspension but have heard good things about it although the standard setup is fantastic bounce

Mine is sprint blue, I have a friend who has an avant in black, looks great, can't comment on how easily the black scratches but I have had no issues with my paintwork (unlike other cars I have had).

My only problem is I am not home enough to drive it as much as I want to confused

Mine is Phantom Black and so far has no scratches on it. I dont think the paint is any softer than on any other car. Obviously any black car will show up any marks easier than certain other colours.

My father has an RS4 Avant which he took delivery of in November of last year. I drove it on Christmas Day when my parents came over for Christmas and it is an absolutely cracking car. In the same league as my Chimaera 500 in a straight line and leaves the aforementioned for dead round the bends. Deeply impressive.

All the toys you can shake a stick at too. If I had the money I'd have one in a flash (provided I could prise the missus out of her BMW 330i SE Sport Touring - I wouldn't want two estates)

I have a RS4 Avant, which I bought 20th Dec 2006 .. could not wait to Jan, LOL

The only issue I have is with wind noise from Vents ... and that is desgined in ...

You should be aware that you must not start and then stop the car ... a few of these and you will foul the plugs.

Also, run in using the elastic band method ...

Is that the light blue one? If so its definetly the best colour to go for. I pdi'd one and found myself stood looking at it all the time. looks imense with buckets.

In terms of paint hardness some of the gents over at detailingworld have RS4's and they seem to have typical hard Audi paint.

If your spending that sort of money on a car, well worth getting somebody that knows what they are doing to prep the car for you and put on a nice wax, better than getting the dealer to instill some curtosy swirl marks.

Obviously avoid car washes and the local albanian 'scratch you good' car wash, wash by hand with one bucket for soapy water, one bucket for clear water and wash with a good sheepskin mitt, pickup the soapy water and rinse in the clear water before getting more soapy.

Also well worth investing in a water filter for the final rinse as it negates the need to dry the car which can instill alot of marks. The aquagleam is a decent filter.

I took delivery of my Phantom Black RS4 avant two weeks ago. Easily the best all rounder I have ever had and its not even fully run in yet! Superb feel and sound to die for.

I went with the silver leather recaros, tech pack with ipod fitting, sunroof, tinted glass and brushed aluminium interior. Looks fab in my view, very menacing externally (but still a Q car really) and nice and light internally. Standard of cabin fitout is of the very highest quality. Whole car just feels very sorted and "right". Wanted a red one or a sprint blue when saw them in flesh but thought black is more discrete long term and easier to sell on in future.

Have been telling all my friends to buy one, by fair means or foul! driving

Just do it.

I've had mine since June and I've done nearly 11k miles. Just can't stop driving it, in all conditions too.

Can't think of a better practical car for the same money.

I got mine same day as Andy's absolutley cracking piece of kit.
I personally wouldn't bother with the auto mirrors etc. I'm one of those that can see when its raining just fine and with the adjustable speed on the wipers its just an unnescessary expense.

Its not only the RS4 that has that problem. Same with my 'ordinary' A4.

Had mine just over a month. Black Avant, sports suspension, 19" SNOW tires!! I've just seen it creep past 5,000 km and it does seem to be getting quicker all the time.

Had an S6 come up behind me the other night and floored it in third, fourth, fifth etc. At 250 odd clicks I backed off and he flew past me. Performance of S6 & RS4 is IDENTICAL. I really thought I'd lose him, but he was stuck to my bumper all the way. How disappointing!!

My wife's comment was; is that all it does?? Very funny. All said and done it does what it says on the tin. It really is a very good piece of kit. Can't wait for the RS6. 580 BHP so I'm told??

Got a saloon and it's fantastic. Only had it two weeks and some muppet rear ended me.

So since Novemeber I've been in an M6 and now an RS4 Cabriolet.

Do NOT get the cab, it's not as good as the Saloon or the avant.

I've done 5k in the car so far (4200 in the rental) and 600 in mine and I get mine back soon.

The overall all round package is AWESOME, driven the M3's and the just don't compare.

Here's the badboy!

And here's the conv

Can someone please clarify why tf there is a 'Sports' suspension package for the RS4?

Other than that awesome car. Would have one over an M3 if I wasn't poor.

Yes there is a sports suspension package.

I have never driven one so have no view --- but it was well viewed by a dealer re-seller who also races Bentleys ?

My comment was really one of astonishment. Surely an RS4 should have the optimum suspension package from Audi as it is the top performance (A4) model?
