Help!

I have a Mk 3 Golf GT with a 220bhp G60 conversion.
Firstly, how do I remove the (airbag) steering wheel without removing my face (I believe it may be a ssimple as disconnecting the battery to make it safe).

Secondly, I have fitted coilovers, front & rear anti roll bars, poly bushes etc, and stainless hoses together with uprated discs & pads. The brakes have been bled (with new fluid) but still have a long pedal travel & feel spongey.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be, or is my 'trackday missile' going to be driven like 'Driving Miss Daisy' to avoid collisions.....?

Many thanks

Andy

Not sure if MK3s are similar, but MK2 master cylinders are known for poop seals and going 'squidgy'.

Have you tried www.clubgti.co.uk or www.edition38.com ?

There's a thread on Edition38 re. a guy building a MK2 ttrack car and he had a problem with spongy brakes. No matter how much he bled them they would not firm up. He sorted it eventually. I will have a look.

Thanks for the advice so far - I was considering binning the new brakes and having a HiSpec 4piston caliper and big disc set up at the front instead, with uprated discs and Audi TT calipers at the rear

any ideas on this anyone????

Many thanks

Did yoy have the brakes pressure bled as its very differcult to bleed brakes with braided hoses, also which master cylinder are you using and is the oneway valve still entact?

I have the brake problem at the moment on mine and I reckon it might be a partially seized compensator on the back, when i've checked that out I think I will run a second vacuum pipe running off at a t piece from the original. Let me know how you go on with the brakes please, in the mean time I am going to trawl through some club gti forums!

Don't think the brakes were pressure bled, so gues this could make a difference.
I would guess that the master cylinder is the mk3 one, but obviously the whole caboodle could have been swapped with the mk2 g60 engine etc - how do i tell the difference???
I don't know about the one-way valve - where would I find it, and what does it look like?
Is there anyway of checking the compensator?

Thanks so much for the replies / suggestions so far guys - look forward to more help!
