I'm looking for a car to replace the TF and so far i'm looking at a Megane, Clio the Cupra and an Impreza. Its hard to test drive an Ibiza as i'm told they are special order only (and the other salesmen seem to think a 24 year old shouldn't have a fast car). What are they like to drive and live with?. And be honest will i be disapointed with one after the TF lol thanks
Not too sure why seat are being funny about test driving a ibiza cupra, at the end of the day, you are their target age range!
Seat's are great cars, with superb, strong engines (all from VAG family).
Build quality will be much better than Renault, and engines a lot more tunable.
I beleive the Ibiza cupra engine is pretty much same as mine (Leon Cupra 180) which i'm having remapped next week at Jabba to give around 220 - 230 bhp.
Having said all of this, my girlfriend owns a TF 160, and if I were going for a drive, I would always pick up the MG keys!

They have said they don't stock them and that you have to buy one to see them which to me is horse shit i aint spending 14K on a car i aint seen or drove. I was after opinions as i'm used to driving a TF which think is pretty quick and handles well how would a cupra compare fun and performace wise? i was disapointed with the performance of a 2.0 hyundai coupe
although the handling was spot on.
although the handling was spot on.It's very difficult to compare a RWD, mid engined sports car to a FWD hot hatch,
two very different animals.
Performance wise, with the 1.8T engine, you get a big surge around 3k rpm which makes it feel a lot faster. When I'm driving the TF, it doesn't feel as fast, as the power is progressive to the red line, however, looking at the speedo, it's not far off. An ibiza cupra will be quicker than your 135, especially when you're on the move. As I said before, it is also very easy to get even more relaible power from the engine without spending a great deal of cash.
Handling I have always found to be pretty good, and would imagine the ibiza to be even better (Smaller car making it more chuckable).
If you want a car to rev, and be able to feel the road like the TF, the ibiza is probably
not the best choice. If you want a quick, relaible, all round great car, then go for it.
P.S. may I suggest that you also consider a Civic Type R. As close as you'll get to a sports car with back seats and a boot!

Thanks for the reply it will be hard to match the MG's ability in the corners two very different animals.

the Cupra does sound like it will fit the use well though. Just got to find one nowI would go for the Cupra! So much fun and so easily tuned, although I have to admit, the two Ibiza Cupra's I've had were around £8000, so whether I would spend £14K on one is a different matter!
If you want over 200bhp for less than £15K then yes, by a Cupra lol
Or go Cupra diesel and get that mapped, 214bhp in a car that does 45mpg....!

Hi I have an Ibiza Cupra and have owned both the Clio cup and an Impreza Turbo.
I love the Cupra, in an everyday urban environment it makes alot of sense.
The Impreza was an amazing car on a b road but very agricultural heavy to drive in traffic and expensive to own, not as reliable as Subaru would have you think.
The Cup was amazing to drive but it was a tin box, I had it a week and the passenger side window fell out! the fit and finish were appaling.
It all boils down to what you want out of the car, I cant wait to chip my Cupra once the warranty is up. Near 300ftlb of torque once re-mapped.
Thats more grunt than the Impreza and easier to access from low speed.
The car doesnt handle as well as the clio or Impreza Its not bad though.
I think this may improve by changing the Tyres? I'd like to hear from people who have swapped the Pirellis for Goodyears or Michelins.
It took me a while to find a dealer with one to test drive, but no longer than it took to find a Clio cup. Keep trying its worth it!
Oh yes forgot mine is the Diesel.

hello there new to forum but thought i'd add a bit, i have a ibiza cupra diesel, on my 2nd now think they are great as very quick on b roads and still good mpg for my mainly motorway driving. i'm based in nottingham and if you live anywhere near let me know and you can have a go in mine if you want as stated though it is a diesel. there are two things you must buy if you get one though and they are front strut brace and rear anti roll bar, both help curb understeer which there is quite a bit off out of showroom and the rear anti roll bar adds lots (and lots) of lift off oversteer. please be aware though that on my diesel i go through tires everything 10k miles due to the torque, and clutches are a little on the fragile side again though petrol might be different. hope this helps.
