corrado engine needed

im now fed up with this engine as there is too much work to be done.
im now after a second hand engine for my corrado vr6
need something that i can reley on.
anyone help please please please

might have found one now mate but looks like it will cost me £800. but thats with 84000 on the clock

Have you consider a 24-valve engine transplant? The V6 engine from the Golf R32, which is actually an evolution of the VR6, has been successfully fitted to several Corrados now.

(This would be a lot more money, of course)

£800 for a low mileage ABV lump with ECU & loom sounds about right-ish to me. Surprisingly they're still in demand. The 2.8 AAA (Golf VR6) engines are a lot cheaper though, and carrying over the throttle bodies and ECU from your Corrado will give you most of the power difference between the two engines back.

JonRB is right though. For similar money (or even less) you could consider a 4Motion 2.8 engine which has 204bhp as standard. As it's a derivative of the AAA/ABV engine mounting it is fairly straightforward, but do beware - wiring them into the Corrado loom is a nightmare, and especially if you get one with the fly-by-wire throttle on them, as you will need to transplant some other bits (eg dash clocks) as the ECU immobiliser requires them to be fitted.

There are a number of specialist fitters out there who now have the wiring for these figured out and can do this for you.

Alternatively, you could consider a 3.2 (Golf R32) engine. These are now coming into supply, but are more expensive. Expect to pay £1200-£1500 minimum for one of these.

Frankly though if you're on a tight budget, I'd look for a Golf VR6 engine and transplant the Corrado bits across.

Hi John!

Quite a bit off-topic, but have your seen this month's Practical Performance Car? Front cover is this very engine but with an Audi manifold transplanted into a Mk2. Golf. They've got almost 300bhp out of it without forced induction too. I'm not a Golf man but it looks very nice indeed.

But back to the topic, it would be a shame to put a Golf VR6 engine in a Corrado - it would leave you with a bit of a mongrel in my opinion. Far better to replace like with like and spend the few extra notes to get Corrado VR6 engine.

Edit: The other alternative is the ubiquitous 1.8T engine as fitted to near enough everything in the VAG range. Lacking character, but cheap as chips due to plentiful supply and it is a common and well-understood transplant. And don't forget that these make 225bhp straight out of the box for the Cupra / TT variant and can be taken up to 300-odd bhp with mild fettling.
