Hey all,

Well, the wifes GTI has hit 20k on the clock and the air con just died frown The wife took it to the local garage and they are telling her its taking four weeks to get the correct parts as this is a common problem. Anyone else heard of this??? Its hitting the mid 40's where I live, not a good time for it to die.

Also, she told me the dealer mentioned there was a list of recalls coming up for all GTI's, any have any other problems???

Thanks Guys

Hi.

I once sold a Golf GT TDi which had some air con problems.

At the time I was working for an Audi specialist who were also the main VW dealer.

It was a similar problem with the delay on parts!

It does seem odd to me, particularly as VW obviously knew of cars with the fault that parts were not immediately available, or at least overnight!

Oh man, just got the low down on this, big problems. If you have a new GTI then kick up a stink as the compressors are going down like flies. Not sure if VW have released a TSB, however, it could be a big recall. See the below link....

Mega bucks to replace this down the line if your warranty is over!

Probably a slight overkill, there's probably a dozen failures listed, on an engine thats sold by the 10,000's for audi, skoda, vw, seat. I suggest anyone concerned call VW customer services.

Actually, so far I have counted around 60 failures listed just quickly browsing my two local VW forums. Its appears that it effects 06 and 07 GTI's with the Zexos units. Audi has listed a few failures as well on the A3 and the VW Jetta with the 2.0T engine also.

I really don't want to cause a panic, however, living in California the air con is on 90% of the time since we purchased the car, so in 20k miles its failed. I just would not want to see other VW customers in the UK have there units fail in say 50k miles with the air con on and off due to lower use.

Also, I would say more cars must be effcted than we know about, my dealer is taking 4 weeks to get the correct parts due to "demand". Called around today and talked to other dealers, trying to get the parts quickly, all say the same thing.
