R8 in the flesh!
Discussion
I was talking to a prime porker who said that Porsche expect to own 51% of Audi within the next 12 months.
And, under these circumstances they would undoubtedly kill the R8.
This sound fantastic for R8 residuals, but maybe rather poorer news for those on the tail of the waiting list.
I should imagine that dealers will be none too happy either.
Any Audi principals wish to comment ?

Hi Mikeyboy, i work in Beckenham near Crystal Palace, you are more than we3lcome to pop down for a look if its not to far. The RS4 is a stunning vehicle isnt it - The car that does everything!
Yes to be honest it would take some convincing to change out of the RS4. I just found that my dealer was very odd about even inviting me to look at an R8 and would like to see one before I decide for sure.If i find time to come down I'll do that thanks.
I have seen the car a number of times now in the flesh and it seems to get less dramatic every time I see it. I drove one last night for the first time and thought it was good - very similar to the RS4 once you are in it but double the price for a decent spec car. Seats are not good - should have RS4 buckets and air con is lifted straight out of the TT. Drive reminds me a lot of 997 C4S I drove recently but it did not feel as planted to me having driven the same stretch of country road in both cars. I have an R8 due over the next few weeks so it will be interesting to see how it feels over a few weeks/months rather than 2 hours.

Interesting, thanks for that. I actually like my cars to be pretty discreet so the less and less dramatic thing works for me. Normally works for me as well but I am now looking at the car at well north of £ 90k and struggling to tell myself that it is worth the money. I personally believe that the car should have been on average £ 20k below where they are currently priced - under an AMV8 or a 911. Build a few more and try and build a reputation. I can see it doing very well initially but I then struggle to see people paying close to £ 100k in most cases for an Audi a year or two down the line -- I am reliably informed that a V10 is being heavily delayed as Audi themselves are worried about pricing the more powerful car and residuals on V8 -- having driven the car last night I think it has enough power and more may ruin the experience

sounds odd to me, Porsche's financial interest in VAG is well documented, partly I suspect as a defence against possible EU legislation on cars (% of production has to have less than % CO2 emissions) but to kill off the R8 is tantamount to admitting Porsche can't compete with itAnd, under these circumstances they would undoubtedly kill the R8.
tactical slowing of production maybe but not kill
