Hi guys,

Just had my motor serviced and they have advised that the front discs and pads need replacing, was just wandering if anyone has any tips on where the cheapest place to get the bits from is.

I've spoke to europarts and they quoted £165 for the discs and pads inc VAT which seemed pretty reasonable to me, just checking that i'm not missing out on anywhere cheaper than this.

Also, has anyone done the discs and pads on an S3 (2001) before, i'm guessing its pretty easy (i've replaced brakes quite a few time before, so pretty confident), just checking theres nothing weird to watch out for when doing them on this car.

Cheers

www.vagparts.co.uk do very good items at good prices, but they are very busy at the moment.

If you have done discs and pads before then you will have no problems, just a brake pad wear sensor on the left hand front, thats it really.

Thanks for the replies guys, will make sure that i nick (borrow) a 7mm allen key from work on friday!! Had a quick look round on the internet and found the lot for about 95 quid from -http://www.vwspares.co.uk/, has anyone used these guys before? Just checking they are ok as they seem to be about 70 quid cheaper than vagparts / europarts????

might be worth fitting a set of EBC discs to the car as they tend to be dimpled and slotted giving better cooling and they're not a lot more

Cheers for the replies guys, got it done this morning and was dead easy in the end. Makes a change working on a newish car where everything isn't rusted / seized up!!!

Ended up getting the parts from brakeparts.co.uk for bout 100 quid all in, just thought id give them a quick mention as they were cheap and the service seemed pretty good!

Cheers
