What a result, TSR engine!
Discussion
I've got a Mk1 Campaign and had a right result today! I had a mild drip from the sump so I bought a new gasket etc and dropped the sump and whoa!! The sump was baffled and it had a windage tray, hmm I thought...
The car had a £4.7k rebuild by TSR in 2001 at 95,000 but I only had the first receipt from this denoting a £2,350 deposit before the final 4,700.
I phoned the chap who had the work done who was really helpful and enthusiastic about the car and he told me the final bill was a tad over 9 grand! I asked him if the engine had been fettled with and he said 'oh yes!' but he didn't know the complete spec.
I phoned Ross at TSR and he explained that the company went into receivership three years ago and all records previous were no longer available but he recalled the car and although he could not confirm exact spec he told me that the windage tray was only fitted to engines built with 2 litre plus spec and it was more likely the 2.0 Brands engine.
The car always seemed really, really crisp but as it was on standard breathing nothing threw me to think it was other than a 'good un'
What a result and it's only done 14k!

Nice!
Have a look through the paper work and receipts, it should say what engine work was carried out.
£9K sounds expensive though, this is what is included in the Brands package, taken from TSR site:
You wouldn't think an extra 200cc can make so much difference, but it does. Fully balanced short engine with Pack C big-valve gas flowed head with a TSR 102 oe 202 camshaft (depending on head type).
Carb. version available.£2175
