I'd appreciate some help diagnosing a problem with my X Reg A4 115 Tdi please (80K miles, recently serviced, no major previous problems).

I was happily driving to work this morning on a dual carriage way when I squeezed the accelerator to pass a Vauxhall when the engine hesitated, lost power and the revs dropped to about 1100. Nothing I did to the accelerator made any difference, in fact it didn't even seem attached to anything! The engine "glow plug" light also started flashing.

I crawled off the dual carriageway at about 5mph & stopped the car, restarted after a few minutes and everything seemed back to normal. There has been no repetition in the rest of my journey or on the way home. Unfortunately, I can't find the owners manual (!) to see if this gives me an indication.

Is there some sort of "get you home mode" if something has failed? Seems like an intermittent problem. Any one got any experience of this?? Any ideas? All help gratefully received.

Thanks

Do you know anybody with access to vag com?

The ECU should have looged a fault code for this and it will show up on a scan. If you don't know anyone, get over to Audi-Sport.net and register. There might be someone close to you who can help you out.

Good luck with it! smile

Thanks folks. I'm hoping to meet up with the chap who looks after my ur quattro tomorrow afternoon, I was just hoping that someone might recognise the fault, the symptoms or even just the flashing "glow plug symbol".
