New A4 Leaked on Web

It looks... the same?

Look past the horrid alloys and think of the RS4...

Audi might be a bit annoyed (or happy that we fell for their big PR trap) that we’ve found a picture of their new A4 saloon.

The thing is, we’re not entirely sure it is new… It looks more like a facelifted version of the current model than a brand new car.

Still, the new headlights are very A5, and the lines do look a bit meatier than the current A4.

There are very few details on the new car other than the fact that it’ll be a bit bigger than the last (what a surprise!) and it’ll have a new interior.

So far two engines have been confirmed: a 170bhp 1.8 TFSI and a 3.2 V6 pumping out 260bhp. There will also be a brace of diesels announced in due course.

It’s new and it’s (a bit) different, but is it a 3-Series rival?

Safe indeed. But what could move the game on is this being the sort of driving experience that the more recent Audis seem to be. Compete dynamically and there is always a market for a junior exec car that isn't a 3-series.

[shame]I quite like those alloys....[/shame]

But then considering the ones I have now it's probably no surprise... laugh

It won't be a facelift of the current car (B7) as the current car is only a very mild facelift of the "old" one (B6).

Looks good to me - like a 4-door A5, which could've been predicted easily enough. Alloys look good in my opinion, though obviously not good enough for sarcy PH newshounds.

The revised platform from the A5 should make the chassis pretty useful, too.

Oh and...

Around 26 years ago Audi introduced this 4WD system called Quattro, which has been a fairly successful and Audi has, occasionally, mentioned it in press releases and used it in motorsport once or twice. How many more wheels would you like the power to go through?

Oh dear.. Styling wise it's even blander than the previous A4.

I think Angelina Jolly is stunning - If I was to produce another that looked the same, I'd be happy!! I think the A4 style is bang on. To freshen it up with a few tweaks is no bad thing. But I bet there will be a lot of changes under the skin. The BMW 3 range of Efficient Dynamic engines have blown Audi out of the water in terms of emissions and econ (stop start, energy regen etc) - I imagine audi is simply returning the volley with similar, lighter better etc.
Still looks better than all its rivals IMO

It remains a statement of blandness. Now If Mazda had refined the 323F/Lantis design that would be interesting!!!!

Followed an S5 this morning for a bit.

Looked all fine, apart from one thing I can see on this car too.

So? That might help - a bit. Still not rear wheel drive! And if they've got the space to do that then just how big is this car going to be?

Is it just me or are the big german saloons getting more and more anonymous and bland looking?

Um, what part of 'quattro' you don't understand?

Um, OK, put it this whay then: they put the front wheels a bit forward in relation to the engine. wink
