More A4 Pictures

Take a look at these, then decide whether it's nasty

Yesterday we brought you a leaked picture of the new Audi A4, and it got mixed feedback. It was hardly a flattering image, and we feel that it should be given a fair hearing.

We've also got some more details on it, which we'll go into after the pics...

The new A4 is bigger than the last, by 114.3mm making it longer than both the 3-Series and the C-Class. It’s also wider than both.

Thanks to the longer wheelbase there is a shorter front overhang, a longer bonnet and more rear legroom for the kids.

The new car will also feature Audi’s new ‘Xenon Plus’ daytime driving lights, which are made up of 14 white LEDs and look suspiciously like the ones found on an R8.

Audi has lightened the car’s bodyshell by ten per cent, though the overall weight is up on the old model. Thankfully, more efficient engines mean that fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions are much improved.

There is also news on the engine range – the two petrols we told you about yesterday are ever present, but there will also be a range of three diesels.

A 3.0 TDI unit will churn out 240bhp and 369lb ft, while a 2.7 TDI chucks out 190bhp and 295lb ft and the now staple 2.0 TDI has a plentiful 143bhp and 236lb ft.

Admittedly it’s there aren’t any details on an S or an RS version, but that 3.0 TDI looks like it has enough twist and shout to keep most people happy in the meanwhile.

Is it just me or does it look very similar to the new 3-series coupé from the rear?

You're right.

New A4 - boring.
Current 3-Series - boring.
New C-Class - that's more like it.

Yeah I see what you mean! The A4 looks a bit beefier though, loving the front LED's!

Those swage and sill creases certainly give it a BMW-esque appearance. It looks fine to me though. I shall reserve judgement until I've seen one in the flesh. I thought the R8 looked great until I saw a few in real life.

Looks quite like the last one - or even the new BMW 3. Do you think a few of the designer made it between Inglstadt and Munich during the clay phase? MMmmmmmmm.

Derivative. But Ohhh,, but look.... its got LED's!!!

sleep

It'll sell in droves...

In the front picture of the silver car the LED's look shit, plain and simple. At least in the R8 there's some correlation in the shape of the headlights and the line of the LED's. This looks like some 4 yr old kid drew a crap line across your headlight. Please say this isn't Audi's attempt at introducing some design language, must try harder.

I'm currently sitting about 8 feet from the front of a current A4 it it looks no different to the front of the 'new' one in those pics confused

Granted, the back does look nice though.

Great even more dazzle from oncoming A4s.

All these cars look dull compared to say the BMW 2002 or the Audi 80GT of the mid 70's.

Audi, however, has succesfully turned the tables on BMW.

Yum. Stick a chip in that bad boy and it will be a flying machine!

Agree the exterior styling is a tad derivative though!

Not sure if anyone has seen this, it's a short video of the A4 in studio. http://www.worldcarfans.com/4070829.001/new-audi-a...

sleep Styling still as bland as you'd expect - has no character what so ever.

For the money i'd much rather have the new C Class or Lexus IS.

nice interior, better proportions, otherwise it's 'as you were chaps'.

i reckon the inevitable 3.0 v6 tdi avant might be a nice family wagon in a few years time...

i think its a very tidy looking car indeed, Audi have played it safe it seems. quite like the A5 esque details and the interior looks nicely laid out too.
just hope the drive is as nice as it looks, if it is i think it'll do pretty well!

Oh my gawd. This is so tedious I can barely find the motivation to comment.

This is an appliance. Pure and simple. It has as much appeal as a new Zanussi.

I don't understand why we Brits are so in love with the A4 ( a huge percentage of VAG profits come from the UK market ). The amount of S line A4's cruising around with their too-big wheels and smokey diesels baffles the hell out of me ( or rather the fact that people have spent £25k plus for them baffles me ).

Still, good luck to Audi. If someone will buy them for a premium, good luck to em' in selling them.

The beancounters inside VAG must chuckle to themselves every night at the way a few well chosen shiny bits can make Brits pay a fortune over the base cost of making a Skoda Octavia..

However, even though this is probably the laziest restyle in history, it'll still sell in droves.

I do hope it is better to drive than the truly dreadful 06 model A4 TDI I was lumbered with for a month earlier in the year.

IMO of course smile

I'm not saying the Jag looks any better, but at least they used some imagination to make it look so bland (compared to their usual products). Whereas Audi seem to have released some pictures of the same car they've been selling for the last 10 years...
