Have put a few posts on here but really really need some advice and help now!

Have a 05 3.0 V6 auto S-line audi cab which I bought with just over 2.5k on the clock - all fine, fab car love it do death until summer '06 when it started making a creaking noise from the front two wheels - my local dealer took it changed a few bits (cv joints, bush arms etc ect fiddled with the brake pads and made the noise go away, mostly.

This year I have blown 3 sets of fuses to the interior lights, roof hood seriously mis-aligned so wouldn't go back on (RAC man was surprised it had ever gone on as was so bad!, air bags faultly so had replaced, creaking noise just all the time and gear box has started clunking from Reverse to Park.

Audi have now had the car for 12 WEEKS trying to solve the creak issue, have had new brake system, drive shaft, sub-frame and this week are re-changing the arms etc (they have been a bit vague this week) trying to solve this issue. The gear box I have been told is part of the car noises although they do admit they have had a cab with the same six digits on the front cover book from same model and this doesn't make any noise.

Can anyone help, apparently the new owner put the car in at 600 miles with the creak so not sure if I can go down the trading standards route of car not fit for what it was sold for or do I just carry on paying for a car sitting in a garage and lump it?? Think 12 weeks patience is quite enough, though do have a courtesy car but would really really like mine back!

Thanks

That's bad news. If I were you I'd start a thread in General Gassing. Probably get more advice there.

Cheers.

Am I the only person that thinks this sounds like a bent/crashed car?

If they've changed or are changing the subframe that stinks of something drivetrain related being badly out of alignment.

By new owner do you mean yours at 600 miles or the other one if yours did they tell you when you bought it about the creaking noise and have they mentioned knowledge of any of the any problems as if they knew but did not tell you then they missold you the goods.

The former owner had the car in at 600 miles for hood not working properly and the front wheels/suspension noise. I bought the car at 2,500k ... previous owner said they did make the front wheel creak go away from whatever work they did (she can't remember what and the dealers dont seem to have any records of it!!!)but sold the car to a different dealership who is who I bought from.

Got car back last weds, did 10.4 miles to have creak come back so have gone down to the original dealers and not back to the local one and is rebooked in for tomorrow (Weds) to see if they can sort it. They have agreed it down have a noise that should not be there .... and they are so much more professional and have heard of customer service!!

Anyone have any idea how long I should be patient for and/or if I can prove this car "is not fit for use"?? Did get a silly offer for the car from the dealership that has had the car all summer but really why should I lose so much money for a problem they have not been able to fix?

Sounds like the first owner got rid of the car because it was an unlucky/badly made one. Personally i would have grown to hate the car by now. At such low mileage you expect it to be like new. you bought the car to drive, not to sit in an Audi garage.so surely its not fit for purpose. I would just take it to Another Garage and trade it in for something else. Garages are pretty stupid they dont test drive anything properly and the problem will then be shifted on to them. Thats what everybody else does. Make sure its another Audi garage so you get even.

have you checked other forums just to make sure this is not a widespread problem for your model of car.??

More tar for your brush, sir? I don't think that's a very fair way to sort this. All you are ultimately doing is passing the problems onto another unsuspecting buyer.

I really think you need to be speaking with your solicitor or at least CAB to get pointed in the right direction. Make it clear that you have no confidence in the car, multiple failed attempts on the repair, faults from new etc...

I agree with Dr G!

I have heard of people having shoddy cars from new/nearly new only for them to be returned with a full refund due to the car being classed as a 'lemon'.

Fight it all the way!

nope, with you fully on that.

Did you do a HPI check on the car? (if not do one now!)

madmadmad

just to keep you all informed of my latest woes ....

Car taken back to dealership I bought from, after 6 weeks has been returned to me today ... still with original fault !!!!!! They will not put in writing to me that the car does not have a fault but have assured me the car is safe - do I look like i was born yesterday??

Had a three hour long meeting to resolve the issue ie a refund, but will only give me a really low todays market value and a "favourable" discount if I buy a new one or are quite happy for me to take them to court! I just want my money back to start again now as can't afford to loose that sort of money - the only winners either way would be the dealership.

Anyone know how to win this one against such a big corporate dealership, or get on watchdog??? haha 'cept its not funny!

have a look through the news articles on here, you'll find a TT owner who took a certain Audi dealership to court... it cost him 30 grand and no-one won.

If its too late to reject the car, my advice is to just to try and negotiate the best deal you can with them to get rid - or trade it in against something else.

i would get an HPI check/ experian done immediately as well.

Full refund sounds order of the day for me, check with solicitor but i am quite confident a refund for goods regardless of value. You may have to prove its a lemon, i.e. get an indy report on it. And yes sounds like you will be out of pocket, it does sounds like a lemon, have you tried going direct to Audi UK? I would start noting down names, times what was said etc now, and consider going to the press.

Sounds as if your dealer don't want anything to do with the car.

Do you have another dealer localish? Ask if they'd mind doing an inspection on the car as you've noticed a fault, get them to give you a breakdown of the problems in writing.

Fidgits' advice is sound but I get the impression that this dealer is ultimately only interested in protecting his bottom line. Why let them get away with it?

I guess my point was, she has owned it for 18 months, and the fault wasnt there when she bought it, so the lemon laws dont apply.

But if the previous owner indicated that a 'temporary' repair was made for the same problem?

even so, i'm pretty sure you only have 3 months in which you can reject a car for a full refund.

Even in that case, it is only expected that the garage fix the problem.

Best case would really be a like for like swap, and going to court will cost time and money, and im sorry to say, after 2 years of ownership, she'll lose.

I'll agree with that; but a favourable price on a replacement car doesn't seem a particularly generous offer to me. It's barely more than a determined haggler would get.

right, but thats probably because they know she doesnt have a leg to stand on in court, so are trying to appear to be generous, while offering no more than they know they have to.
