Passat Sport TDI

Have the pleasure of a Passat Sport TDI (2007) as a loan car whilst my Astra is in the bodyshop and I am massively impressed by it. Lots of kit and plenty of go.

I`m curious though. I think it is a 140ps model but could the red "I" mean something else in regards to power output or engine?

I think that the red "i" denotes that it is the 170 version.

My sel has the red "i" and I know that it has the 170 engine.

Yip, I used to have a 170 Passat sport TDI before I got a boxster.
The red 'I' does indicate that it kicks out 170 horses

Had a 140 SE estate but then moved to a Sport saloon 170 shortly after.
The 140 fairly shifts but the 170 was just in a different league.

It was more from the performance that got me thinking because it is phenomenal - properly quick not just "quick" - I am amazed what sort of kit I can put to shame in it.
