Just saw my first R8...

First time here so morning all,

Popped down to Tonbridge Audi and an R8 was just leaving the site as I was getting out the car. Black with black side panels. I must have gawped.. he saw me and we exchanged nods.

I grinned and cupped my ear and he obliged in full and gave it a full-on emergency start - absolutely superb!!

Looked stunning. Have to admit that in the PH / press pics I was not overly taken by the shape at first..

But on the road - stunning! Nice compact car, very clean design, and that noise... Must start organising finances in order to have a chance at a used one in 3 yrs...

Seen a few R8's going about but everytime i see a new A5 or S5 i get the phone out to take a pic of the R8 and think bugger, its just an A5. One thing that confuses me, A5/S5 owners might be able to answer this, why are the front headlights on when the read lights are off ?

Read lights?

The A5/S5 and R8 have day running lights which are small LED clusters if thats what your referring to?

Drove one yesterday - Looks a million dollars but the automatic is awful, and on the whole rather uninvolving to drive. Felt a bit let down. It's not the ultimate I was led to believe.

Automatic? It is a paddle shift manual. Shame you didn't like it though
