Title says it all really. I've seen a car I'm intrested in and it has body-coloured mirrors instead of the usual metallic ones. Was this an option? Obviously it's not going to make or break a deal, but it would be useful to know. Thanks.

Edited to add it's a B7 Avant.

Yes, body-coloured wing mirrors were an option on B7 RS4s

Thanks. I think I'd get the dealer to swap them over then if I bought the car. I assume they can do this if they sense a sale depends on it.

a) you should - RS car should have proper RS mirrors
b) don't understimate the cost of those mirrors, think £500+ each as a unit retail as a guess so it maight cost the dealer £500 for the pair to cut the deal

The coded mirrors should still be the 'teardrop' mirror.

Things like this cost. I wanted the carbon trim instead of aluminium on mine, and it was over £1000 to make the change.

It stung a bit, as it was a zero cost option had I ordered it from the factory.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. However, the car had gone by the time I got to the stealers on Saturday. Back to the classifieds I go. Hopefully to a car with chrome mirrors.

We have had a set of Polished mirrors nicked of an RS6 and an RS4 in london so beware........and they are not cheap to replace......cannot remember exact prices but we have actually had clients taking the polished ones off and replaced with body-coloured plastic ones in order to keep prying eyes away!

The polishe dones do look the nuts though!

I meant the brushed aliminium finish rather than the design (mine are not polished like my old S3 though)

Ah, OK. It's a shame the polished (real ?) metal finish of the old S3 gave way to the brushed (paint ?) aluminium finish. My car's silver, so the mirror colour's really neither here nor there, but the mirrors were ordered keyed by the first owner.

I prefer the matt ali finish to the more bling shiny metal finish, there again my RS4 is black so either stand out.

Are they painted ali? thought the finish was metal rather than painted on although I have not looked closely.
