Got a mate (seriously) who bought a new petrol FR, and although he wasn't expecting the mpg of the TDi, he's also not getting the advertised figures - currently getting 16mpg in town ! The most on a 3 hr motorway cruise (80) was 31mpg.

Anyone finding a similar problem or is does this seem unusually bad ?

The round town does sound quite high, but motorway isn't too bad. I managed about 36mpg.

There's a few threads on this at seatcupra.net - one of which is:

I get about 25 with a lead foot around town.

How many miles? I've done 10k and it got a new map at the service.

Stick some decent BP Ultimate or Optimax in it, it doesn't like cheap stuff or Tesco99.

Oh, and try changing gear, 3rd or 4th is fine at 30 wink

Check the oil and moan at the dealers as well.
