Mrs R5s parents have a Passat 2.0TDi on a 56 plate.

I borrowed it to go to the shops in and when I parked it up at Tesco it would not lock on the key fob, on the dash it was saying the door was open when it wasn't. Anyways we returned the car home and locked it by removing a cover on the handle and using the key.

Anyway since then they have had,

Airbag failure
Boot permanently locked
Alarm going crazy
Electronic handbrake applying itself at speed! yikes

Anyway the car has been into VW and they are saying it will be fixed in 9 weeks, I think this is shit! They say that there is around 40 cars in the country with the same fault, does anyone know of this?

Could you reject the car? Its been in the shop more times than I car to remember.

Cheers.

Hi,just joined forum, with regard to VW Passat problems I have a 06 Plate 2.0Diesel Estate which is on its 2nd engine - the first eng having only done 12k miles when the oil pump decided to let go and shatered - so as said on 2nd engine and new turbo etc... the car has performed the trick of electronic handbrake not releasing new cd player - various new pumps and is presently back with vw having been recoverd by our friends the AA and as yet VW cannot
identify the fault or what is wrong with the car...have asked for new car in return as no longer trust or want the old one back (car has done 25k miles)

I think you need to be discussing this with dealership management and a solicitor if they're not able to help.

Potentially dangerous faults mentioned...

Errr why???
Straight on to VW Customer Services.
Solicitor will cost shed loads & highly unnecessary at this stage.
