Only way to know if you like it is to drive one. Personally I far prefer the manual, lots of recent threads on here on the subject.

If you're looking at tuning then 250lb ft is the limit of the box also.

DSG is fantastic, best of both worlds and this is coming from a guy who hates auto boxes but the DSG box is just brilliant.

You do have to modify your driving style to get the best from it. It is a computer afterall and it can be caught out and in which cases it feels like an eternity to get drive because your doing nothing else like changing gear and or push clutch to distract you.

Take it for a good test drive, not ust 5 mins in the town and try out all modes, Drive, Sport and Manual.

Two things about DSG.

In 'D' mode it turns the TT into a sedate euro box that's easy for running aroudn town in or up/down the motorways...

In 'S' mode it goes like a lunatic all the way to red line and holds as long as you want it to - just like a manual without the physical effort!

... and then if you want to do the work there's the manual option or rather the flappy paddles.

I've got one and love it.

Have to say I rented a brand new TT with the DSG box the other day and thought the DSG box was just like any other auto.

Also the paddles have no positive feedback - they feel just like cheap buttons.

Just my opinion of course.. but I would prefer a manual any day, much more control with a clutch..

I had a TT with a DSG gearbox, in 'D' it just feels like any other automatic gearbox so good when your driving in rush hour traffic on on the motorway, 'S' pretty useless and a bit of a gimmick in my opinion, the manual option did exactly what you expected. I tried to catch it out, you just can't seem to do it! There is a downside though, this might just be limited to the earlier cars. But my 2003/03 vehicle did suffer from quite a few problems - thankfully all were rectified under warranty.

This problem may be isolated to some of the first generation DSG vehicles, but in the end Audi UK swapped most of the major components out for the ones found in later models. So beware, would have been into hundreds of hours of Audi labour at ~£100 per/hr.
