You really need to know what you are looking at when viewing on one of these, they can so easily "bite" back if you buy a pup.

Is it the one on ebay? Red?

Take care and be very careful. I have owned one for ten years and it has been good to me but ive heard of so many sob stories from others who have had major trouble. Yuo will need lots of money to throw at it to keep in in top form and to keep it on the road, many spares are no longer available.

Good luck and give us the feedback on the visit

With this car it has been converted to the later 20V. So the car will be less desirable than a 100% original car fitted with the original engine. Also who did the transplant, look for the quality of the install.

If you look around you could pick up a decent WR quattro for 5-6k, if it had a knackered engine you would get it cheaper. Then you have the rest to play with on a 20v engine and all the upgrades. If you are looking for an investment then this is not the car you will never get your money back on it.

Get an all original MB engined model, they hold their value and are a best buy out of the three quattro models, (WR, MB or RR). The WR breaks down too often and the RR is expensive for parts, the MB was a compromise between the two and in my opinion the best of the three.

At the end of the day its your choice but dont get blinded by bullshit, do your homework on these cars, they are not like other motors, they were handbuilt at the factory and need some fine fettling to keep them good and an appreciating classic

Looks nice, but I simply couldn't bring myself to buy a car that was advertised thus:

"A black beast. From the outside it looks totally original, but under the skin lurks a monster!"

I seem to recall reading that it is one of Kim's jobs.
