...by changing two coil packs, a thermostat and a **cylinder head**.

???! eek this is on an Audi A4 1.8T at 24k miles! Is this a common thing or are we just incredibly unlucky? (Same car had the clutch/flywheel etc replaced at 13k amongst numerous other niggling faults)

Hats off to Audi, sorted within three days, but still - I class a cylinder head as half the bloody engine - scary stuff, thankfully the warrantee pays out once again.

The coolant warning light kept coming on and it developed a drinking habit with no obvious leak...

Needless to say we were rather concerned - glad audi sorted it so quickly, but suprised such an issue had occurred?!

I really would like to moan and point out that our 73k mile old TVR Cerbera 4.5 hasnt ever had engine trouble at all - but it was handled well by Audi, credit to them.

I had this problem once on a BMW. Turned out to be a cracked cylinder head. Unfortunately for me, I didn't have a warranty. Ouch!
