Evening all,

I rang a local independent VW garage this afternoon and asked for a price for a 40k service on a 03 Golf. He replied that it would be £240 if you are on a yearly service or £270 if you are on the longer service schedule. I didn't know what the heck he was on about so pretty much left it there.
I've not encountered this in the past with my other services. Any ideas what he meant?

Cheers,
Ben

Hi

If you keeping your car for at least another 20k/2years or high mileage then do the long life as it works out cheaper.
check with vw as well as some of the franchises prices are competetive

The long life servicing uses very high quality oil which explains the price premium.

18 000 - 20 000 miles between oil changes is a very long time, no matter how good the oil is. However, if you aren't going to keep the car until it dies, then it's a good idea. Cheap motoring really.
