trade plate usage - help please

Hi all,

just a short moan today!! need some help (as usual) and thought someone out there must know the rules etc regarding usage of trade plates from a dealership?

short version of story is: car in dealers and they have advised they need to do some more (!) extensive road-testing before they can return my car to me, but as the tax has run out, until I send them a new disc they are unable to .........

They did take my car from my home with no tax and drove with trade plates, have driven it to date with trade plates this month but are now saying unless I get it taxed they are unable to use it any further ..... does anyone know the "rules" regarding this please so I can attempt a suitable reply, is there anything I can quote back at them (ie the rules and regulations dealers have to comply by, to prove this is a load of tosh) they are trying I think, to fob me off personally and bearing in mind they have had car since July, am not willing to tax it (ie spend money on the damn thing) unless it really is fixed!!!!

They should be able to road test the car on trade plates.

The trade plates do not cover mots (the lack of)and or unroadworthy vehicles
