I set myself a budget to build a track slag for a grand. The Mk1 Helios campaign is the car I would really love to use but it's just too rare and the TVR is too loud. So I needed a car to chuck into the tyre wall and laugh so here it is. Here's how the expenditure is going, bearing in mind the car was bought needing a gearbox and with a crossthreaded NSF hub.

Car - £150
Linkage from VW to cure gearbox problem - £6
Oil/filter - £10
Complete set of Mk3 hubs, later calipers (less prone to seizure) carriers, cross drilled discs front and rear complete, spare driveshafts hoses and cables. - £43 Ebay
Skimming front discs - FOC
Red Stuff pads - Chrimbo pressie from father.
Poly bushes for steering rack - £3 Ebay
Recaro seats with slots - FOC (came out of Mex)
Lower ball joints for wishbones to mate Mk3 stubs - £12
Synthetic gear oil - £10
Fire extinguisher - £25 (another Autosport deal)
Full OMP cage - £350 (should have been nearly £500 but got a deal at Autosport).
Pair of 3 inch Sabelt 6 point harnesses with pads - £213 (Should have been £340 another deal at Autosport)
Quick shift linkage - £9 Ebay.
K&N - £9 Ebay
Toyos for road prep - £55
Complete set of locks, handles and keys with barrels for glovebox, petrol cap, tailgate assembly etc £18 Ebay BRAND NEW!
Racing brake fluid - £35
Momo steering wheel - FOC, already had it.
Momo boss - £12
Oil pressure guage and head up pressure light. - £16
BBS RA alloys as original wheels were wrong offset - FOC, swapped them with the Cabrio.

£976, O.K. it's going to break the budget but not doing bad so far especially as the leather interior is making good money on Ebay.

I am building the car with a view of 'possibly' doing the Toyo Cup next year if funds etc permit.
