"Must-have" options on a Mk V Golf GTi....?
Discussion
Does anyone have any particular knowledge of the market for Mk V Golf GTi-s? I've been offered one in p/x against my 993 (the arrival of our first child means the Porker realistically has to go ) but I'm trying to get a feel for what it's worth and whether it's missing any "must-have" options that will cripple resale value?
FWIW, the e-mail the guy sent me said it's in Tornado Red, has the DSG flappy-paddle gearbox and comes with sunroof, 18" Monza factory wheels, electric seats and xenons.
(I know the DSG 'box is something of a marmite experience - I'll need to try that to form my own view)
Is there anything that it's missing that it really ought to have?
I'd prefer one in Candy White with leather (which I assume this one doesn't have, since he didn't mention it) but, given how slow the market is and the relative lack of interest in the Porker, a swap with money to me would make life much easier.

i wouls say leather and 18's as a must have, then dsg if you like it and sav nav is a bonus
i think highline dis is an option but not 100% sure
hold out for a white one as there are a few around that have been looked after
also vw are now selling the gti with leather and armrest as standard as they are running out of these and are only building the edition 30 till production ends later this year

It's a 5 door (not much point swapping a 911 for a 3-door Golf, if practicality is the name of the game.....) so I don't think it's the same one, Tonks. Thanks for the feedback. Can't say I'm hugely enamoured of the retro "tartan" Interlagos cloth but then it's probably not a deal-breaker.
DSG I could take or leave - not a must-have by any stretch of the imagination for me, and if I had the cash and was buying (rather than considering a p/x), I'd probably go for manual.
I guess the concensus is that it wouldn't be a complete dog to re-sell, so it's probably worth me having a look.
What sort of price for the above car, assuming 9,000 miles and registered in 2007 (unsure whether 07 or 57, but probably the former)? If it makes a difference, it also has centre armrest and 6 CD stack.
I was told from a few sources that centre arm rest and 'hi line computer' are must haves.
I like the dsg if that helps.
Heated seats are great.
If your going for a non edition 30 GTI then monza 18 inches are a must.
Leather is great if you can get it - they are / were a very expensive option, so let the original owner take the hit on that one.
Multichanger is great, but i would just get a local VW dealer add the ipod connector - or maybe do it yourself.
Nice to know a 993 owner is moving to a GTI, i want to add a 993 to my fleet at somepoint - i think they would make great garage companions - shame you have to sell yours - i know how long you spent looking for it.
I would also bare in mind that VW are launching the next Golf later this year - not sure if this will affect values at all...?
