Hi guys,

Recently bought a 1999 T plate Bora with the standard fit radio / cassette and am looking at fitting one of the standard VW 6cd changers.
Have had a look on ebay but am a bit confused about what model I need to look for.

Sorry I havent given much info, but am not very well up on car audio gear!!

Any pointers will be appreciated!!

Si.

They are Panasonic units, and all standard headunits in the VAG range will take them.

I have one sitting on my desk at home out of my old Audi A4 just waiting for me to put it on ebay, I can check the model number later.

The Gamma & Beta radios in the Golf/Bora were made by Blaupunkt.

To sort the above out a bit...

-standard fit radio/tape was either a Beta or Gamma model. They look pretty similar but the Gamma has more buttons/functions.

- you can fit a changer in the dash or in the boot. The dash model replaces the cubby hole and you need a triangular spacer plate to stop in wobbling about, the boot model goes in the top of the NS and you need a bracket to hold it and probably a cable to run from there to the dash (may already be in place but unlikely)

- both plug straight in to the back of the head unit and are controlled from it.

Other options are a single CD in the dash and a HD jukebox in the boot, or get an adaptor for an iPod.

p.s. There is a special removal key to get the units out of the dash, but you can improvise with strips of old credit card.
