Hi all,

I've got a problem with my passenger electric window in my 51 reg Bora.

When I tried using it recently, I got a horrible crunching sound from inside the door. Now the glass won't move, except if I slide it myself. I guess it's the motor/mechanism?

The car is going into the dealer's on Friday to have a couple of other things looked at, so I've asked them to check out the window problem whilst it's there.

Is this likely to be expensive? I just want to be prepared, just in case!

TIA

There's a known problem with some little plastic clips breaking - could be that. If so VW will probably try to sell you a whole new mech/motor/door/car but it can be done DIY for much less.

Thats what happened to my Golf (which I guess has the sames doors as a Bora). As the doors are a nightmare to work with I sent it off to my local bodyshop how sorted it out for £80, the parts are peanuts, I think it was under £20 for the kit from the dealer but it's a few hours of labour that hikes the bill. frown

it actually takes about 40 mins, having done it myself, just get the repair kit with metal instead of plastic and never see the problem again, it's worth replacing all if you plan on keeping the car.
