I have a shallow scratch in the rear bumper of my car its about 2 incjes long and just penetrates the plastic of the bumper.

I have just been a massive quoted £927!!! for repair by an audi authorised repairer. Other quotes range from £80 to £220 for the same job.

I queried the price with the Audibody shop and they say that i have to have the car repaired by them or it will void the warranty! But if i leave it unrepaired it won't!

No wonder the owner of this dealership drives an Aston Martin Vanquish and a Porsche 911 GT3.

has anyone else had similar issues or is this a one off?

Cheers

Why on earth would it void a warranty - typical main dealer garbage

This body shop is part of the dealers Group and also includes a VW dealership.

Suffice to say that they have absolutely no chance of getting the business!

Slightly OT but I once needed some minor body work done on my BMW and was quoted an astronomical price by their official bodyshop claiming various panels had to be removed for painting. Total codswallop.

When I questioned it, the guy said "Look, do you want the work done or not? It's no skin off my nose, mate".

Oh yes, THAT'S the way to drum up custom!

I spoke to the salesman I bought the car from (official network) and he said use this chap round the corner. He's ex BMW and brilliant.

I did, he confirmed that the BMW body shop bloke was talking rubbish, and quoted me a third of the price.

Never ever use main agents for bodywork. It's never cost effective.

surely the former is quoting for a full panel repsray and the latter for a touch up job? Either way £900+ is stiff but I woudl expect to pay £500+ for a panel respray plus possible matching of neighbouring panels at a dealers bodyshop.

these guys live off the stupid / lazy / company car driver

Would this be something to do with the anti-perforation warranty.

To OP, if it is the same bodyshop I used that could be a "type of door opposite to East" I have had issues with them in the past. They tried to charge me for parts that they had not replaced and work they didn't do. It was refused three times in total. PM if you want more details. (Can recommend a cracking Indy near Broadway, the man is a genius!)

Thats exactlythe bodyshop in question! The one near broadway would be handy as I live very close to there.

How is the new A8 going? My A6 has had nummerous issues with MMI, phone, cd player, DIS etc.

The A8 is brilliant, so many toys to play with...and they all work so far!! Miss the grunt of the chipped A6 though, will be looking at that after Cheltenham Races, hopefully have the money then! The A8 has been bringing me in a lot of new clients as well so it has already repaid the cost of changing.

The bodywork guy is Dave at JJ Bodyworks, Blockley. 01386 701302. Guy is a genius. It is a pleasure watching him work, does custom stuff for bikes and racecars as well. I would not trust anyone else near my car now. Tell him I sent you, (Richard).

Thanks Richard, I'll give him a call. As for the races I am there on friday and expect to lose plenty as usual! I guess you are all booked up for the week.
