Ok, how hard is it to remove the bloody horrible Wood trim from the dash? What sort of engine work should have been carried out, ie: cam belt etc.
Are there common faults or recalls that should be done. And when did they introduce the nicer seats rather than the horrible Blue/black things that i've seen in a 'v' reg one.
Oh all the above applies to the 1.8t Gti and the GtTdi model.

Some common questions.

Common Faults: Coils packs, air flow sensors, roll bar bushes.

Work to be carried out: Cam belt at 60k, make sure they do the water pump at the smae time as the plastic impellers tend to break. The one they should use for replacement should have a metal impeller.

Trim: Relatively easy to replace but the replacement stuff can be expensive. Check out awesome gti for prices. Second hand is often a better option.

Seats: Never, when speccing the GTI you had a choice of insert colours, red, blue or grey.

Hope I've answered all your questions.

The Recaros might be an option but I thought they were standard at GTi level.
For all thinks MkIV the best place is.....

I've got my running costs of my 98 'S' 100k mile plus 1.8T GTi in my profile if it helps. wink
