Hi,

My sister is looking to buy Audi S8 alloys for her VW Transporter T4 van. Anyone have any experience of sourcing alloys and tyres to fit these?

Reason i ask is because "normal" load tyres and rated to a specific weight/mass they can carry. On a van (with a greater load space - in hers it is filled with a campervan conversion) i believe the tyres require to have a higher load rating - is this true? And if so where supplies such tyres?

Lastly, if possible does anyone know the correct tyre/alloy combination for the T4 in terms of keeping the overall rolling diameter the same.

Cheers,

Agar

PS. If anyone knows any useful forums for T4 vans i'd be pleased to hear of them.

Hi there, I have a set of 5 genuine Audi alloys which will fit straight on the Transporter. They have come off my 2002 Audi A4 SPORT and I'm going to put them on Ebay soon if your interested?
All alloys are free from kerb scrapes and will come with centre caps and good tyres.

Let me know if of interest and I will post some pics up.

Ive subsequently found that in order to use alloy wheels on the van, they also require to be load rated frown - thus greatly limiting the choice of wheels.

"Normal" road car Audi alloys are not rated high enough for a van frown

Hmmmm, I guess it comes down to how much gold bullion your planning on carrying around in the back - outside of that it does sound a bit harsh as most I bet most large Audis with a full load come close to the weight of your average van..

usually if you get 18" alloys the tyres are load rated anyway.

Have a caravelle and you dohave to be carefull what alloys you fit to it the ones on mine where from VW and not upto the job (2 of the have cracked on the inside edge both whre fitted to the N/S/F ) you need reinforced tyres not had a problem getting them form a normal tyre supplier

The A8 is made of aluminium. It's not as heavy as you think.

The van is now basically a caravelle - had a full conversion carried out, and i'd say its substaintially heavier than you'd think (additional lesiure battery, gas heater, iron bed frame, very high quality wood cabnets and marble work surface).

These are only sat in my garage if anyone is interested!
Open to offers.

All wheels are balanced and all tyres are road legal, although some have more tread than others.
They came off a 2001 A4 sport and will fit VW Transported T4, Audi A4, A3 and most other VW models.
